FINALE (BOOK #3- CARAVAL SERIES) - By Stephanie Garber 4.8/5
DISCLAIMER: This book review contains spoilers of Book #1 & #2 of the Caraval series, please read the books before you read this review of the next book. Otherwise, it is a spoiler free review of Book #3 Finale.
SUMMARY: If Book one was for Scarlett, and If Book two was for Tella, then this Book three was equally for both of them. Even the chapters are written with both of their point of views. This is a continuance of the events that occurs in book two, and it truly feels like no time has passed, as the emotions are all too raw. Legend left her on the steps, but is still the star of her dreams, taunting her pulling her way too deep, while giving her nothing. He comes so close to taking her each time only to run away at the faintest feeling of love. This is a book of unveiling secrets, we get to know more in depth about Legend, Scarlett, Tella, Paloma, the other fates, all except Jacks. The Prince of Hearts bares his heart open in this book, but still remains a mystery.
Speaking of mysteries, we get glimpses of who Paradise The Lost was in her past, and the complexity of her character. In this Book, all of them unite in their ways to stop the evil fates, with many twists and turns. It was a rollercoaster for emotions, and if you were a romance enthusiast, this book is for you. Although beware of unrequited feelings and heartbreaks.
MY REVIEW: Where do I start? The one thing I really love about the Caraval series is that it gets progressively better with each book. The storyline, the way the author writes, the romances, the depth of characters, everything.
I was thoroughly impressed by this book because I'm a sucker for romance, and heartfelt confessions, the forbidden love trope and anything in between. The storyline was at the same intensity as the other two books, but what captivated me through the book was the love triangle clearly being formed, and the wonderful scenes between Tella & Legend and Tella & Jacks. I was grinning like a teenager at all their impish meetings, and forbidden romances. If you were shipping Jacks like me, fully knowing it was doomed for heartbreak, then this book will quench your thirst.
We see a new side of Jacks from the get go, who becomes truly the epitome of heartbroken boy and I have to say My Heart is His. He stole the show, Sorry Legend.
This book was truly interesting to read due to the multitude of characters especially the Fates introduction, it was unputdownable and I was addicted. It was really nice to see dealings among the characters, and their quest to defeating Fates. There are some interesting turn of events, but none too shocking. I think this book focuses more on emotions rather than being an adventurous book, although I'm not complaining.
I was a little bit disappointed by the ending, but that was expected, I was on the wrong side of the ship, but I will gladly sink. Team Heart forever.
I did notice that the author always build up to a dramatic ending, but it is actually ends up little less dramatic, and makes me feel not adequately satisfied. But it is still a decent and a good fantasy series and a must recommended experience.
I am excited for the "Once upon a Broken Heart ", a spinoff series set up in the Caraval world, that follows the events of Finale. AND IT IS ALSO JACK'S !!
